I could really use a workstation like this!

Dr. James Levine, an obesity researcher at the Mayo Clinic, has designed an office makeover that he believes should help keep people active and burning calories even during usually sedentary desk work and meetings.

Instead of being sedentary in front of their computers, they'd stand. But instead of standing still, they'd walk on a treadmill..."I hate going to the gym, which may be partly why I'm so interested in this," he said, keeping up a 1 mph pace on his treadmill while checking e-mail and fielding questions from a reporter. That speed is slow enough to avoid breaking a sweat but fast enough to burn an extra 100 calories per hour...
Since, as we all learned from Tiernan yesterday, "I have a butt," it might be good to get my butt moving while I'm checking email, blogging, and working on the kids' homeschooling.

Comments:
You get your Butt moving girl friend and you'll never need me again.
I won't have anything to do the next time we visit, so tread(mill) carefully....I crack (Butt).....did it again, myself up sometimes.

I never knew you were so puntastic!

gosh that would take an awefully high desk for the computer, or a lap top strapped very securely to your treadmill. Hummm... I don't know if I can type & walk at the same time.

okay I'm trying to type & "walk" at the same time. Marching in place. Not quite as fast as sitting, but do-able. although capital letters & backspacing to fix errors tend to throw my marching off. I suppose one could get used to it. But I need my keyboard up a little higher.

There you go! You'll be an expert in no time :-)

What, are they trying to take away all my excuses?

I like being on the computer cause then I DON'T have to move! No treadmill for me! :)

I have a lot of hidden talents, including vibrating hands

hmmmmmmmmm. Very interesting. I wonder if I would be able to do that and work too. My vote is on 'probably not'.
