He's dead, Jim.

Veteran actor James Doohan, perhaps best known for his role as Montgomery Scott on the original Star Trek series, died today. He was 85.

Here's a neat article about what his life, apparently he had quite a sense of humor about being everyone's favorite Chief Engineer:

In a 1998 interview, Doohan was asked if he ever got tired of hearing the line "Beam me up, Scotty." "I'm not tired of it at all," he replied. "Good gracious, it's been said to me for just about 31 years. It's been said to me at 70 miles an hour across four lanes on the freeway. I hear it from just about everybody. It's been fun."
He'll be missed.

Comments:
Jen - you brought out some sentimental memories! The remembrance of watching those original epiodes with my Daddy (who I love & miss) and then seeing the last movie that "Scottie" was in! hmmmmmm... thanks for the flashback!

What a great quote. It actually puts a lump in my throat.

that was a wonderful quote you included :)

his passing is indeed sad... let's all wish 'Scottie' well as he traverses the Final Frontier...

by the way, you have a wonderful site! :)

cheers.

It is sad. He was good-natured and had a sense of humor. I'm sure many die-hard Star Trek fans are in mourning.

Jimmy Doohan kissed me on the lips once.

And that's all I have to say about that.

now I know you must be reading, 'cuz you never take this long to blog! LOL! Glad you're enjoying the book.

Thanks for all the comments!

Jana, I'm DYING to hear your story!
