Either we're old

or when we were part of the free speech movement in Berkeley in the sixties we did a little too much LDS. Since we weren't actually alive then, I expect it's early dementia setting in... A double dumb ass on us, I guess.

Tonight, as we were quickly finishing up some wrapping so we could get presents into the mail, we realized we've forgotten what is in most of the presents we'd already wrapped! There we sat, passing each other presents we purchased and wrapped, shaking them, squeezing them, and finding ourselves unable to figure out what exactly was inside the packages!

Christmas ought to be just full of surprises and wonderment for us this year! My goodness, I'm only 35, how do middle-aged people manage? Am I just way ahead of my time? Mother always did say I was exceptional...

Comments:
I didn't do any LDS - so you can just join my club if you'd like? Hubby handed me presents he wrapped, told me what it was and I'd say "who'd I buy that for?" LOL Doh....

LDS? You mean LSD--but from what I've heard both can give you visions...

So maybe that's why so many people give me funny looks when they see my little sign on the door???
It's been a long time since I saw that movie...was that when they were riding the bus and Kirk was trying to keep Spock out of trouble?

You could always resort to what we did as kids to sneak a peak at our gifts... cut the tape carefully right on the line where the paper is joined... then you just place another peice of tape right over the old one when you're done. :D

Leanne, that sounds about right!

Sage, it's a line from a movie. It's OK if you don't get it :-)

Renee, we actually consider peeking inside some of them!

Does LSD cause you to mix the letters up?

Isn't that great! Now everything will be a surprise when you open the pressies on Christmas Day.

Sorry, Captain, the LDS joke was before your time on the Enterprise... ;-)

You are taking "surprise" to a whole new level.

I WAS alive in the sixties. I was born in 1963! I was not doing any drugs during the sixties, though. I saved myself and became a crack whore in the seventies.

I caught the Trek reference without even looking. But it's not drugs...I think it's having children that makes us psycho-mentated.

JD, even in your comments you can nearly make me pee!

cube, Yay! Good catch. And you're probably right about the kid thing.

My boyfriend got a good laugh out of the LDS joke. I've been wrapping presents and then forgetting what's in them and even worse, who they go to for several years now, and I'm only 26 and no kids.

Ahhh, I love STTVH! (Scotty talking into a mouse...computer, computer?)

I find myself making small notes on packages to remind myself what was in them. The problem is, then I can't find where I wrote the note! :-)

Caught the reference- ha! I'm even LDS! Good luck with the cleaning thing. I thought about hosting a picnic so I wouldn't have to this week, but then I got cold so I broke out the Lysol and Ajax and got to work.

You are exceptional.

You mean you didn't pee? I'll try harder next time.

Last year I wrapped and wrapped while the kids were asleep, panicking that they might wake up and catch me. I saved the tags and bows for last. Imagine my surprise when I saw the pile and had no idea what was in it. You are in good company.
