Well, he *IS* kinda creepy...

Go check out Scared of Santa, a collection of kids screaming and crying their way through their obligatory yearly trip to Santa's lap for a photo.

I remember having a freak out one year about sitting on Santa's lap. It was at the bank where my Grandma was vice president, so the stakes were pretty high for my mom to get us through the ordeal smoothly. I don't think I caused an enormous scene or anything, but I may have, because if memory serves, that was the last year mom took us for Santa pictures...

If I had to choose, this picture would get my vote. I just wonder how that poor mom got them both out to the car afterwards.
Santa
I'm guessing she didn't buy the 8x10.

Comments:
I'm not sure why parents do this. Is it tradition to scare your kids this way?

Of course, I do have a pix of Darly with the elf and she doesn't look too sure of the situation...
but she said that she was ready. I would have been totally okay if she said she didn't want to do it.

Thanks for posting this. It is a hoot. My favorite is #3...a category 5 scream, but the presence of mind to hang on to her candy cane. Priceless. In fact, I posted the photo last year...

This is hysterical!

Hi, here's a strange old man, sit in his lap, tell him your secrets, and then accept candy.

It's no wonder.

That is too funny!!! I was never afraid of Santa, but my sister was...heeheehee!

I put this link on my blog - I found it at chickadee's blog and was cracking up at 6 a.m.! I mean, it's not funny the kids were scared....but the pictures! OMG. And weren't the Santas SCARY looking? LOL

Don't you just LOVE how freaked out kids get?
That pic is just priceless.
Those poor kids are just terrified.

We all need one of those for our collection :)

We took the trip to Santa and two out of three got up there and didn't cry. I call that a success!

My favorite is the Catergory 5 scream too. LOL.

Ok, I've got one of my own. But I wouldn't let them freak out totally, as soon as they got fussy, off they went. Last year I skipped it entirely because the Count didn't want too. Reason enough for me!

My mother has a pic of me in Santa's lap many years ago. It's obvious I'd been crying. If my kids (that I don't have yet) don't want to see Santa, so be it.

I'll just photoshop them in later ;-)

My little brother hated Santa Clause at the mall - he was really terrified of him.

Both of my girls have never sat on Santa's lap and neither ever wanted to. My oldest like to go to the mall and look at him, but did not want to approach him.

At our church christmas party last week, Santa came and the kids lined up to sit on his lap. I swear almost every kid got in line. When I asked my seven year-old if she wanted to get in line. She said, "No way! That guy's creepy! I don't want to sit on some fake Santa's lap!" (she believes in Santa, but think it's too convenient that he happened to be at the church party)

think those kids will need therapy?!? I'm going to have to go see the rest of 'em!!

This is great. I hope it's OK if I link to it from my blog. I had no idea that Scared of Santa contests exhisted. Sick, yet hilarious.
