I saw this word in a news article about the Dubai port situation, and I just thought it sounded way too whimsical to mean what it actually means.

Doesn't it sound like it should be a frilly skirt worn over puffy pantaloons, or some sort of crested bird indigenous to the Mississippi River Delta? Maybe it's just me.

Kerfluffle. Isn't that the ruffly thing you can buy for around the bed to hide that you have an underneath?
