Wow!

I'm back from my blog break! I just couldn't pass up this story...

World's oldest person dies at 116

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bolden, recognized as the world's oldest person, died Monday in a nursing home, the home's administrator said. She was 116. Bolden was born Aug. 15, 1890, according to the Gerontology Research Group, a Los Angeles organization that tracks the ages of the world's oldest people.
This is the part that I think is just amazing!

Family members said this year that Bolden had 40 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 150 great-great-grandchildren, 220 great-great-great grandchildren and 75 great-great-great-great grandchildren.
Can you imagine? The story says she had a stroke in 2004 and his been pretty under the weather since then, but I wonder if they have pictures of some of these families? I thought it was pretty cool to get 4 generations pictures of my family, but they could conceivably have gotten a SEVEN generations picture! Wow!

Welcome back!

Especially in light of her name. Hello? Can you imagine 116 years of hearing Lizzie Borden took an axe...etc.

Then I thought, maybe this Lizzie came before the notorious Lizzie.

I'll have to look it up.

BTW welcome back to the blogosphere.

Ooh, I hadn't thought of that. According to Wikipedia, the murders of Lizzie Borden's parents occurred in 1892. So it would have been just after this Lizzie was born.

I'm guessing she married into the Bolden name, and just spent the last 100 years of so of her life hearing about it... Poor thing!

Welcome Home.

Hummm sleeping under the stairs. I didn't live in a house with stairs until my senior year in High School...and that closet was pretty small, very close to Harry's.
I bet S's kids can say that though with her closet that the kids just love.
But under the STARS, I got sick on a road trip once and my dad made me sleep outside in case I had more hurling to do.

I don't wanna live as long as Lizzie. But it would have been great to talk to her. My gg-grandmother lived to 102 and I missed meeting her by 2 years...she was alive while I was a kid, but my parents never took us to meet her. I was too young to care back then though.

I thought it was Lizzie Borden at first; maybe she changed her name?

Welcome back, Jen.

Glad you are back, and I hope I do not live to be 116... heaven sounds much better to me!

that is amazing! my great grandmother lived to be 97 and I thought that was old!

can you image her stories? that would be so amazing.
BTW - I thought I had a large family; not even close!

Glad you are back!!

That is an amazing story. So many children coming down through the generations - wow, can you just imagine that family reunion?.

Good to see you back again Jen and thanks for sharing this story as I didn't know!

May I invite you over to a real traditional Norwegian dish?

And I thought my 98 year old great grandpap was old! Why, what it must feel like to be a great-great-great-great grandma!!!
