I wouldn't have guessed....
Ok, I'm going to put the answer in the comments, because I want you guys to get a chance to think about it before you find out. (And, while you're in there, you can drop me a howdy, if you please.)

It's MEAT!!!! Can you believe it?
Here's an article about it, The Purloined Sirloin.
This old world keeps getting weirder and weirder, doesn't it?

Whoa that is weird. Is that why I keep finding meat on the shelves far from the meat dept? LOL
I used to take candy.

That is bizarre! But funny. And related to misheard song lyrics. My hubs tells a story about his ex...she used to think "Every time you go away, you take a piece of meat with you" was the lyric. Obviously it's important to some people! "You can keep the ugly lamp, but I'm taking these ribeyes!"
Meat is very pricey AND very tasty. I think one should heed the advice to never shop (or shoplift) when you're hungry ;-)
I would have guessed steak! It costs so much and is easy to put down your pants when no one is looking! They even provide plastic bags to wrap it in!
I was gonna guess cigarettes, but then I guess they put those behind a counter now. Then I was gonna guess milk.
But meat is good. I paid four bucks for 1.26 lbs. of ground beef last night. Good grief.

Weird! I was with Jana, there. Totally thought it was something people didn't want to be seen buying. Maybe it's a bunch of vegetarians... If it's a cheap store, do they leave a trail of blood out the door?
