I'm still alive!
Thanks, Cube, for stopping by to check in and comment :-) I love your Cat Blog Friday, today, that story is hilarious!
Things are good here, but I'm helping a friend through a bad, bad time. There's not a lot I can do for her, but I spend a lot of time worrying about her. So, I haven't felt much like blogging. If you're praying, can you remember Mara? She could really use the help.
We're all healthy and happy and busy, here at the Horde. Here's a recent conversation we had, while watching 2001: A Space Odyssey. It started with Anya commenting on how well the proto humans looked, given the fact that the movie was made in 1968.
Anya (11): Wow, those monkeys look really good! That's really good special effects! That's even better than Godzilla!
Me: Yeah, um, a lot of things are better than Godzilla...
Anya (11): Oh yeah? Like what!?
Maya (9): Like pork...
I'm not sure if Maya just wasn't following the conversation, or what, but now we have a new gold standard in our house. If something's going to be "good," it better be at least as good as pork!
Happy Friday all, I promise I won't neglect you so in the future.

LOL about the pork. So sorry about your friend, still praying for her, and finally have you seen "Gamera"? My boys rented one of a bazillion episodes from the library last week, it's like Godzilla, just as lame. Funny thing is they keep asking to "Baghera" and Mike is sure the show must be about a big black panther not a terrible lizard.
ROTFLOL re: Pork. Maya has her priorities. hee hee
I'm sure the installation will provide lots of blog fodder...especially if we break anything. :o

Pork chops and apple sauce.
I hope things resolve well for Mara. I'm sure she is grateful to have you for a friend.
Recipe for Oven Apple Pancake
Heat oven to 400.
Melt ¼ cup of butter in a 13X9 pan for 5 minutes.
In a bowl, combine 1 cup flour, 2 cups milk, 3 eggs, and ½ tsp salt and beat until well mixed.
Pour melted butter from pan into mixture and beat.
Pour batter into hot pan and bake for 30 – 35 minutes until puffed and set in center and golden brown.
While pancake bakes, make the apple filling: I doubled the recipe below so I would have more than enough.
Over medium heat, melt 2 TB butter in skillet.
Combine the following in a bowl:
2 TB cornstarch
1 TB cold water
Add the following to the mixture in bowl:
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp vanilla
Put mixture in skillet and stir until sugar dissolves.
Add 2 medium apples, cored and sliced about ½ “ thick, in skillet and cook, stirring constantly.
Spoon mixture over pancake and serve immediately.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

You are not neglecting us as we all are happy that you take your time with Mara. I know you feel that there is little you can do, but remember you are there with here and for her and that is a great contribution! Well done - keep up the good work and give Mara a great hug from me!
Good to know everything is good at the Horde and I wish you all a great end to your week:-)
