No words

This is probably the saddest news story I've read in a long time. I don't even know what to say about it.

Parents Charged with First Degree Murder

Last week Sargent called 9-1-1 from the family's Proctor Street home in Peoria.

When rescue personnel arrived they found the baby unresponsive seated in a car seat placed inside a crib.

Investigators now believe the child had been strapped in the car seat without food or water for eight days.

States Attorney Kevin Lyons said the room was about 80 degrees when the baby was found. The boy was wearing a snowsuit and held in the car seat by a rope. He said there are times "when crying yourself to sleep no longer works, and you cry yourself to death."
Normally stories in the news don't really phase me, but this one's had me near tears.

Sorry to bring such a downer into your Thursday, this is just where my head's been all day.

I don't think that there is a punishment strong enough (or legal) that fits these people. What they did was unimaginable!

What kind of crack were these people on?

The mom says 'he's not my respons.' and leaves the baby (who was already dead mind you) with the 'father' and he just plays games.

'I thought he was asleep so I put a bottle next to him so if he got hungry he could grab it' says the mom before she left to go see her internet boyfriend.

Um...he's 5 mos. old! He can't grab a bottle and he was already dead! How can you not know that your baby has been dead for 7 days????

Let's strap them into a seat and not feed them for however long it takes them to die.

Just because some people can have children doesn't mean they should. That poor baby.

Well I could certainly see why you'd have difficulty focusing on anything else.

Stories like this both sadden and anger me. I can forgive a lot of things, but I have a very hard time extending any kind of mercy towards people who knowingly harm others, especially kids. It's a good thing I'm not God, because people like this would be zapped on the spot!
That poor baby suffered terribly. Those people should also suffer.
