Dzzzhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ow. Ka-CHING!

That's my phonetic rendering of a tattoo parlour. Do you like it?

Remember when I told you I would be babysitting four adults as they got tattoos this weekend? They didn't really need a sitter, so I'm just going to assume that I'm so much fun they needed me along even though my presence was completely superfluous.

I have two tattoos, both of which I'd gladly get rid of (one more than the other) if given the chance. I could argue that I was young and stupid, but I got one of them after I was married! Still love the husband, but regret the tattoo. Sometimes I'm a moron.

So, even though I had the means and opportunity, I lacked motive and just hung out while everyone else submitted to the needle.

All of the artwork turned out well, but this one was just so interesting I thought I'd post it. I was used to tattoos looking kind of like intricate coloring book drawings, but this one (on my very dear friend Janet) has variations and depth and is just not what I expected a tattoo could look like:

I don't know a lot about tattoos, so it's possible they've been doing this a while and I just never noticed. I wish the picture was better, she's still pretty red and swollen here, and it's hard to see how subtle the shading is.

As far as the Ka-CHING part, good tattoos are expensive and everyone involved was told ahead of time how much their choice would cost, so there were no surprises. They all felt happy with the price and their results. They were done at the Emporium of Design in Denver (the artist who did the one above was called "Grandpa." He was pretty cool.)

Comments:
Ouch! I would get a tattoo, but I'm a big chicken. I don't know what or where either. Too big a decision for me!

i'll never get a tattoo, that looks sore. i can't imagine sitting still long enough to have that done to me.

I'm not into tattoos. I just don't get the deal about permanently putting a picture on your skin. I always would fear that I might not like whatever it is I got tattooed on me after awhile, and then I'd be stuck with it, in ink, on my body.
I have to say that some tattoo artists are amazing.
The artwork on your friends back is really cool.
I'm glad for her because it's what she likes and what she wanted. More power to her! It's just not for me.

Grandpa did MY tattoo!!! ;)

I put where the sun doesn't shine, and I really like it, actually ;) But I wouldn't get another!!!

They look like they hurt so much! Anyway, it is amazing what they can do now.

I'm anti-pain. I need heavy sedation and lots of it just to get through dental & medical procedures that are necessary. There's no way I'd willingly choose a painful procedure just for the heck of it.

I'd never get a tattoo, I'll stick to playing with my henna! :)
