I remember Anna Williams Allison

Anna Williams Allison

Anna Williams Allison sounds like she was a very astute and capable woman. A successful software developer, she went on to create her own consulting company in Boston. On top of all that, she was busy as a writer, trainer and speaker in her field.

Nearly every place I looked to research her life has this same sentence, "When Anna Allison and her husband flew together, they held hands on takeoffs and landings, just in case." I can see them doing this, what a sweet and poignant testament to the relationship they'd shared.

I didn't know Anna, but from everything I've read I can honestly say that I wish I had. She seemed a promising mixture of can-do determination with a down to earth sentimental disposition. She made the most of her abilities, and helped others to do the same. She is the kind of person that I would feel blessed to count among my friends.

It's hard to wrap my brain around the idea that a person with as full of a life, and as much potential as Anna could be taken from us all. Then when I consider the 2,995 others that we lost on the same day, there's just no way to even comprehend it. I don't have anything wise, helpful or witty to say on this subject; I am overpowered by this circumstance.

I do want to let Anna's family know, though, that there are still those of us out here who keep her and the others in our hearts, and who think about them still. You are in my family's prayers, as always.

I remember Anna Williams Allison.

A stirring tribute, Jen. Well written.

Well written. Well said.

This is such a hard thing to understand. Why anyone would do this to innocent people. I have to admit, though, I hope I don't ever get it.

My tribute is for Matthew David Yarnell.

Very well written tribute. Thank you for sharing with us a remarkable woman. I pray for peace for her family. This, as difficult as it has been for some, 2996 is a blessing to many of us to come to know the people and not just their names.

That was a good tribute. Was she on one of the planes or in the WTC?

Such a heart-felt tribute. You painted such a great picture of her and what she must have been like.

Hi Jen. That was lovely. A fine tribute to a good woman.

And I thank you for your timely blogger tips. I am clueless. You help was heaven sent.

Jen, A wonderful tribute on Anna Allison. Thank you for taking the time to do this tribute on a 9/11 Hero.

The 2,996 Tribute projects is such a great idea to remember those who lost their lives, that they won’t be forgotten. That was a horrible day and tragic event. I did a tribute to Chief Battalion William J. McGovern, firefighter.

I have an alternate link as the 2,996 original link is down at the moment.

What a lovely tribute! Thank you for participating. These people are no longer just a name to us anymore.

Mine's up.

I think you did an amazing tribute, and I do think her family would be proud...I think your words spoke volumes about her...thanks so much

Oh well, duh...there it is. My beloved son woke me up at 4:30 and my brain is still reeling.

You're right, you weren't on the protected list. That's been rectified. My whole list went kaput a week or so ago and I had to reconstruct it. You're there now.

Great Tribute.
As I continuously keep visiting sites with tribute, it makes my heart bleed for all the victims and brings tears to my eyes as I recall all these young people losing their lives to something beyond their control. These cruel people who caused the tragedy just didn't care about these innocent lives, lives with yet unfulfilled dreams, lives who may have been depended upon by their loved ones. My sympathy goes to all the victims' family of these Sept. 11/2001 tragedy. My heart will always have a special place for all of you.
Thanks for passing by and sharing your tributes.

I am now on Day Three of reading the tributes. Thank you for your beautiful contribution...

Tribute to Christopher Paul Slattery

Hi Jen,

I knew Anna as a professional colleague. The last time I saw her a few months before 9/11 she came up to me at a conference I was managing and thanked me for inviting her to speak. She was just starting to build her business and was so helpful to others. I was glad that I had the chance to be a tiny part of her success. It gave me great joy to see that she loved doing what she did. We lost a shining star in Anna.

Well done, Jen.

These were real people we lost that day. It is so hard to imagine it even still.

A lovely and heartfelt tribute. Thank you for sharing.

I remember Sheila Hein.

Jen, you are right... "I didn't know Anna, but from everything I've read I can honestly say that I wish I had."

I believe that this Project has taken on a miraculous life of it's own. Those that wrote a tribute feel very protective of the memory of that person. I'm so grateful that you carry the flame of light for Anna and Sharon. With your tribute, we will remember them and not forget.

I remember Marion Britton.

I will NEVER FORGET.

Thanks for remebering.

Thanks for posting this. I've been thinking of Anna a lot in the past couple of days. I didn't know her very well, but she was one of several people who interviewed me for what would become one of the best jobs I've ever had: blunt, straightforward, and funny. In other words, intimidating to a young interviewee! But she was unfailingly generous with helpful advice over the year and a half I worked in the department with her. Our whole department was shattered over her death, though she hadn't been working with us at the time.
