Well then...

Things went poorly with the friend I mentioned the other day. I don't want to say too much, because it's not my story to tell, but I do feel that everyone who was involved in trying to help her did their best. It's out of our hands now.

I'm spending today around the house, trying to get stuff ready for a new project I'm working on, and doing some self-comforting things; sock knitting, reading to my kids. It's all good. Well, except I'm a little weirded out by the way the socks are turning out. I picked the yarn because it was fun with bright colors, but it's turning out to look like it represents a box of crayons. You can see the yarn here, it's the one called "Crazy Hot."

Ooh, and the girls and I are going tonight to listen to speakers from the Rocky Mountain Paranormal Research Society. Maya and Sage especially are really interested in this sort of thing, and I've always thought it was fascinating, so it should be a welcome distraction. And, it dovetails nicely with our trip to the Stanley Hotel earlier this month (pictures are coming!)

It's a beautiful day out there, and we're just going to enjoy it all :-)

Still here!

Sorry, I've been here but not really HERE. I know. I've missed you, too.

My computer died, and that took a lot of my computer time away, because I needed to share the rickety old last-millennium desktop with the kids. That just about sucks all the joy out of surfing. My lovely laptop is back now, and my online life is getting back to normal.

This last week, I've watched a close friend hit some problems. Many people are trying to help her, but I'm coming to terms with the idea that she doesn't necessarily want to get better, and any effort we put in is essentially wasted at this point. How do you know when to stop trying to take care of someone who's unwilling to take care of herself?
